Tesco, Waitrose and Home Bargains customers sent 'do not eat' warning as chocolate milk, salt, pate and jelly products recalled

The FSA has advised shoppers not to eat the affected products which may contain pieces of plastic

Retail giants Tesco, Waitrose and Home Bargains have sent out warnings to customers.

They are urging shoppers not to eat some foods which are being recalled by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Some of the affected items in the FSA's latest recall include chocolate milk, salt, pate and jelly products.

Some contain potential allergy ingredients not listed on the label, including milk and mustard, while others may contain pieces of plastic. The FSA is advising shoppers not to eat the affected items, and instead to return them to the stores where they were bought for a full refund.

Here is the full list of the items being recalled, the reasons why, and the FSA's advice on what to do if you have bought one of the affected products:

Interstoq is recalling Chocomel because it contains milk, which is not listed in English on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. Interstoq supplies the chocolate drink brand to Home Bargains.

The product details are:

Best before: 07 November 2023 and 29 November 2023

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to milk or milk constituents do not drink it. Instead, return it to a Home Bargains store for a full refund. For further enquiries please contact [email protected]."

Dri Pak recalls Dri Pak Table Salt because it may contain small pieces of plastic. The possible presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat. The products affected are only sold at Home Bargains.

Pack size: 750g

Batch code: 3205 and 3206

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought or contact [email protected] for a full refund."

Tesco is also recalling Tesco British Cooking Salt because it may contain small pieces of plastic. The possible presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat.

Batch code: 3200

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund, no receipt is required. For further details, please contact Tesco Customer Services directly on: 0800 505 555."

Findlater’s Fine Foods recalls Findlater’s Roast Smoked Salmon Pate because it contains mustard which is not declared on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard. The recall only affects products sold in Waitrose stores.

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."

Oriental Foods Distributor is recalling two jelly cup products because they contain unauthorised additives, Konjac flour and Carrageenan gelling agents that are not permitted as an ingredient in jelly confectionery as they present a choking hazard.

The FSA said: "The products can present a choking hazard due to the consistency, solubility, shape, size and manner of consumption of the food. The products can be projected from the cup or capsule in one piece by exerting pressure at the tip and therefore may cause choking hazard."
